Artist Statement

Painting is an engagement with creation, learning about myself as I experiment with and explore the art-making process.  I am drawn to sensitive line making, and spontaneous, direct brushstrokes.  Alternating between dark/light, equine subject/non-objective works.  Acrylic paint is applied by multiple means to raw canvas, with charcoal as a mark-maker.  Large areas of transparent stained passages join in with thick areas. I continue to develop and trust my response to the dialogue taking place in the creative process.  The challenge that art-making offers, leads me to be in alignment with myself and life.  The result is my genuine voice-my art.
